Support Educator Wanted for Heritage Fund Project in Örebro
We are now looking for a support educator for approximately 50% who wants to contribute to a meaningful project aimed at deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). The position is linked to the project's final phase and has a clear focus on the development, adaptation, and preparation of materials as well as participation in writing processes related to educational packages and reports according to the project application. The educational packages include materials adapted for authorities, relatives, the target group, and staff who meet the target group in their work.
The position is approximately 50% and time-limited according to the project's final year, until December 2026. The position is primarily located in Örebro, and we welcome applicants with local ties. At the same time, applicants from other locations are also welcome to apply and may be considered depending on competence and personal suitability.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop, process, and adapt educational materials for the target group
- Actively participate in the writing process of educational packages, checklists, brochures, and other project materials
- Script work and film production
- Work with texts at both practical and more academic levels
- Contribute ideas, solutions, and improvement suggestions in various parts of the project
- Work concurrently on multiple tasks and support where needed – you will be the project’s “jack-of-all-trades”
- Collaborate closely with other project staff
- The position may involve evening work
Your Profile
To succeed and feel secure in the job, we wish for you to meet the following profile:
- You share NKJT's vision and values.
- Education: Education in social fields or equivalent.
- Language: You are fluent in Swedish and sign language.
- Deaf Competence: You should have deaf competence.
- Experience working with individuals with ID, in the deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind area.
- Familiarity with reading, understanding, and writing academic and structured texts.
- Good ability to adapt information to different target groups.
- Solution-focused, proactive, and brings your own ideas.
- Computer skills: You have basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Outlook.
- Good collaboration skills: You are a communicative person who enjoys working in a team and is self-driven and takes initiative. You can maintain structure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You can create and maintain routines.
- Driver's license: B (not required but desirable).

About National Women’s Shelter and Support in Sign Language
National Women’s Shelter and Support in Sign Language, NKJT, has been Sweden's leading competence center and the only support and service organization focusing on deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind children, youth, women, non-binary individuals, and others who have been subjected to or are at risk of violence, or who need support in Swedish sign language since 2019. With our expertise in sign language and violence victimization, we offer qualified conversational support, assistance in contacts with authorities, and if needed, sign language-protected housing in close collaboration with social services. We also operate two online-based shelters in sign language – one for children and youth and one for women and girls as well as non-binary individuals experiencing violence. As a national competence center in this area, we disseminate knowledge and experiences to improve support for sign language users across the country.
